چکیده

3.1. SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS The acute, subchronic, and chronic toxicology of the chlorinated dioxins, dibenzofurans, biphenyls, and related compounds have been reviewed extensively in recent years. This chapter summarizes knowledge on the toxicology of tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD), but also includes references to other dioxin-like compounds when relevant data are available. Included are selected various data that are considered to be of importance to risk assessment, particularly experimental animal data. Immunotoxicity, reproductive/developmental toxicity, carcinogenicity, toxicity to humans, and epidemiology are all covered in other chapters. Ecotoxicology is not covered in this chapter, but examples from mammalian and avian laboratory species are included.

Chronic Exposure to Low Doses of Dioxin Promotes Liver Fibrosis Development in the C57BL/6J Diet-Induced Obesity Mouse Model

BACKGROUND Exposure to persistent organic pollutants (POPs) has been associated with the progression of chronic liver diseases, yet the contribution of POPs to the development of fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a condition closely linked to obesity, remains poorly documented. OBJECTIVES We investigated the effects of subchronic exposure to low doses of the POP 2,3,7,8-t...

Toxicity of 2, 3, 7, 8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD).

In summary, the toxicity of TCDD has been comprehensively examined in multiple acute, subchronic, and chronic studies. Acute toxicity studies have shown marked species differences, with up to a 10,000-fold difference between the single oral LD50 dose for the guinea pig and hamster. TCDD is capable of causing an acnegenic response in man and a similar skin response in certain animals. It is also...

Perspectives in Pharmacology The Role of Time as a Quantifiable Variable of Toxicity and the Experimental Conditions When Haber’s c 3 t Product Can Be Observed: Implications for Therapeutics

One hundred years ago, Warren established for the first time a quantitative link between dose and time while studying the toxicity of sodium chloride in Daphnia magna (Straus). During this century, many toxicologists in different contexts returned to this idea, which has become known as Haber’s Rule of inhalation toxicology. Most attempts to explore this relationship ended in frustration becaus...

Silver nanoparticle induced muscle abnormalities : A sub-chronic dermal assessment in guinea pig

Nanosilver has recently been recognized as an antimicrobial agent. Although this nanoparticlecan be used in medical applications but its dermal and systemic toxicity via dermal exposure hasnot been completely determined yet. The aim in this study was to investigate the potential dermaltoxicity of Nanosilver in subchronic method. Before the colloidal silver nanoparticle toxicityevaluation, their...
